During Orientation week, Union Representatives were on university campuses across Victoria promoting the 100% Pay at 18+ campaign, informing newly arrived international students of their rights at work in Australia and signing up members to our Union.
We went to four campuses of Victoria University, as well as Swinburne University, RMIT University, La Trobe University, Federation University (Ballarat), and Deakin University in Melbourne, Geelong and Warrnambool.
Our most successful day was the first day of Swinburne O-week, where we signed up ten new members.
Our reception on campus was very positive. Most students, even those who didn’t work in retail, were receptive towards our campaigns.
