SDA's Submission to the Victorian Governments Long Service Leave Review

A review of Victoria’s long service leave arrangements under the Long Service Leave Act 1992 has been conducted by the Minister for Industrial relations, Natalie Hutchins. The SDA welcomes the review  after the last review over ten years ago.

The SDA’s submission to the review focussed on a number of key issues that affect the long service leave entitlements of retail, fast food and warehouse employees. In particular the submission addressed the need for penalty rates and shift penalties to be paid on long service leave and that an employee on parental leave for more than 12 months who currently has their service broken, should instead have the time off on parental leave recognised for the purpose of accruing long service leave.

The SDA commends the Andrews Labor Government in fulfilling its election commitment to have long service leave arrangements reviewed.
